Cape Coral Elementary Schools (Public)
Diplomat Elementary is located in the West Zone of the School District of Lee County. Our student body is comprised of a diverse population of approximately 1,000 students in grades K-5. Through School Choice, parents may choose any school within a geographic zone. Students are no longer assigned a school according to their street address.
For the fourth consecutive year, Diplomat Elementary School has received a Grade of "A" from the State of Florida Department of Education. We have also met 100% of our required standards of growth to show federally-recognized Annual Yearly Progress. Additionally, the U.S. Department of Education has recognized Diplomat Elementary and its staff as a 1996-97 Blue Ribbon School with a special honor in technology. Schools are chosen for this honor for providing a solid foundation in the basic skills of reading, writing, and mathematics; meeting state and national standards; and maintaining a standard of excellence. In addition to the Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, the United States Department of Education selected Diplomat as one of the top 16 technology schools in the United States.
Hector A. Cafferata, Jr. Elementary is a family friendly school where the progress of children comes first. Our mission is to develop students who are lifelong learners and productive, cooperative citizens. Teachers use a team approach to deliver an integrated curriculum. High academic expectations are achieved by focusing on the teaching of basic skills in an active learning climate. Technology is used daily as a tool for developing the writing process and practicing math and reading skills. Classroom settings provide inclusion models for students receiving ESOL services using individualized, goal-oriented assessment in a nurturing environment. Preparing students to learn includes implementing a
school wide curriculum of responsibility that is firm, fair and consistent.
Pelican Elementary is a child-centered school which will provide a safe environment conducive to learning. Teachers, parents, and the community will actively strive to ensure the academic, social, and emotional success of all students.
The mission of Pelican Elementary is to develop all students to their potential through a comprehensive program, enriched with technology and enhanced by the collaborative efforts of a professional staff, parents and the community.

We are proud to have the Lee County Art Teacher of the year – Helen Garcia-Valdez and the P.E. teacher of the year – Suzy Corace, three Golden Apple finalists and three teachers of distinction
We are currently a model school for our Positive Behavior Support Program and have applied again this year. This year we reduced our out of school suspensions as our behavior goal
We hosted Families Building Better Readers and 3 ESOL Parent Nights and strengthened our outreach to our Hispanic Parents ( We have an active Scholar’s Club and “Estrellas” Club which strengthen this bond)
We have a strong mentoring program hosting both the Teen Trendsetters from Mariner High School and the peer mentors from Trafalgar Middle School.
Cape Coral Middle Schools (Public)
Caloosa Middle School is in the West Zone. It is one out of five Middle Schools in Cape Coral. The enrollment for 2005/2006 has averaged approximately 1180 students in grades six through eight. The mission of Caloosa Middle School is to encourage and celebrate the potential of every student and empower students to design a positive future for themselves through cooperative involvement of community, parents, peers and teachers.
Caloosa Middle School is enjoying its fifth year of "A" status for the State of Florida. We are very proud of our students and faculty's achievements and their commitment to excellence. The Renaissance program, the National Junior Honor Society, the Scholar's Club and the many activities and sports play key rolls in making Caloosa Middle School a wonderful growing experience.
Challenger Middle School will open to 6th and 7th grade students for the 2006-2007 school year. We will have a 6th grade and 7th grade team serving all students. Our school is staffed by many highly gifted teachers holding state and local titles such as: Golden Apple finalist, Published Poet, National Board Certified, Middle School Science Teacher of the Year, and Who’s Who in American Education.
Cape Coral High Schools (Public)
IDA S. BAKER HIGH SCHOOL is one of Lee County's newest high schools and the district's first comprehensive high schools.
The school opened in the fall of 2004 and was a CHOICE for 9th grade students in the West Zone. During the 2004-2005 school year, Baker High School served approximately 600+ freshmen on its temporary site next to High Tech North on Santa Barbara Blvd.
In the summer of 2005, Ida S. Baker High School moved to its permanent campus on Agualinda Blvd. This state of the art building was a model for all other high schools to be constructed in Lee County. Its 40 acre site is adjacent to the future Cape Coral community park and the school will benefit, through an inter-local agreement, from the use of its 80 acre site and facilities. The latest technology was purchased for this facility!

The City of Cape Coral's first elementary charter school opened on schedule on August 8. While a few kinks had to be worked out, the school is doing well. Teachers, parents and students are working together to ensure the school's success. The school, located at 3415 Oasis Boulevard, is a 600-student facility using the Core Knowledge curriculum. The school is operating at, or near, capacity at this time. It is the first of a planned four-school system, featuring two elementary schools, one middle school and one high school.
Cape Coral Special Centers
Business & Industry Services provides customized, quality cost-effective training to meet the needs of existing, new and future employers in Lee County. Training takes place at the employer’s job site, High Tech North in Cape Coral or at another designated location that will meet the needs of the particular training situation. Business & Industry Services annually provides training for over 1,000 Lee County employees.
Several local businesses use our services to provide customized classes to upgrade their employees’ computer skills and knowledge. These classes take place at our computer classroom at High Tech North or at the employer’s facility. Business & Industry Services also offers computer classes at High Tech North for the general public.
High Tech North provides the opportunity to learn a technical career in a professional, caring, and safe environment. Career and academic counseling is ongoing throughout the year at High Tech North. Our school counselor is also trained as a community and crisis counselor and works closely with local agencies to assist students who may need social services.
