Alva

2 to 4 p.m. Saturdays. A quaint museum housing
exhibits that include an Indian canoe, household articles,
instruments, clothing, fossils and photos of early settlers.
The collection is sponsored by the Alva Garden Club and is next to
the historical Methodist Church. The building which dates to
1909, housed the first library in South Florida. Call for
information or group tours.

than 8. The museum boasts shells from all over the world and
an exhibit on how shells form. Five times a day, a video on
shells is offered.

Sundays. Hands-on exhibits, aquariums and an outdoor
lagoon. Dig for dinosaur bones, experience a hurricane,
watch a 3-D movie and explore the pre-school area. Hands-on
fun shows daily. Admission is $7 for adults, $6.50 for
senior citizens, $4 for children ages 3 to 12, free for children
younger than 3.

filled with artifacts of early Koreshans, a communal colony that
settled in Estero in 1894. Personalized tours of the museum
and the Theatre in the Woods are available. No admission,
but donations are accepted.

exhibits, story hours and bear sculptures that afford great photo

education, recreation and research. More than 3 miles of

Florida Adventure Museum (941)743-1900,
The museum plans to reopen in March as the Charlotte County
Historical Center. It will have a new location in Charlotte
Harbor at Bayshore Live Oak Park. The historical center will
provide an interactive environment in which visitors and residents
of all ages may explore and appreciate the history, culture and
natural surroundings of Charlotte County. Call the Charlotte
County Visitors Bureau for more information.
